My game changing moment was on the 2nd of March 2013. Where I was gigging in a local pub in Deal, Kent, UK .. Nothing fancy just a local gig with a band that needed a stand in. There I am rocking it up 2 songs away from the half-way point .. Not trying particularly hard and then all of a sudden someone I thought I recognized walks in. I dismiss it finish the last 2 songs and take a short break.
Curiosity being peaked I go up to him and get chatting innocently. He says and I will never forget, "Dude don't quit 'cos you have a real talent there and not only do you have talent but you have so much passion and you put so much of it into what you're playing." So after chatting, "right I've got to go finish up this gig. What's your name by the way I hope to talk to you later?" He replies, "No worries I'll talk to later, It's Chris Slade" ... Now I couldn't believe it .. I had been speaking for 15 minutes to someone who I idolize for his metronome like tendencies... Ex Drummer of AC/DC ! I was amazed and incredibly humbled by his opinion.
In short, my game changing moment was when I was near losing motivation and throwing the sticks in. Someone came up to me and paid me a compliment, and then I found out it was an idol of mine.
