My name is Myles. At The 2012 Orion Music + More festival, A meeting was arranged for me through a friend to meet all four members of the band Arctic Monkeys, which is my favorite band. Not just favorite, but basically the only band I have consistently liked since I was young, along with the only band that I know every single factoid about, including individual dates involving their tours and any sort of milestone in their musical career.
When I met them, I began explaining to them how cool of an experience it is meeting them, along with explaining to them what an impact they have had on my life and my drum playing. Me and the band members bonded pretty instantly, and over the course of the next hour I would get to know them on a more personal level. After this experience, I was the most blown away that I have ever been. After they left to soundcheck to get ready for playing I rejoined my friends out in the large 26,000 person crowd at this amazing festival. As soon as they went on stage, the crowd began to jump and bounce around to the contagious and exciting beat of their music. Once they were about half way through their set, they took a short break from playing to ask us how we were doing, and the crowd screamed in excitement. After this break, the bands vocalist and rhythm guitar player Alex Turner said "This is the very first song off our very first album and it goes out to Myles!" At this remark, I screamed in delight. This single moment, this very moment, was the happiest I have ever been, and probably will ever be. How could my heroes, the men I worshipped so much, actually care for me as well? This sort of idea blew my mind more than anything else I have ever experienced, and I will never forget it. This single day motivated me more than anything else in my life ever to get better at playing drums and to become a professional musician. Thank you.
