Drummer:

As drummer for the classic British rock band Wishbone Ash, Joe Crabtree plays over 100 dates a year in Europe, the United Kingdom and North America. Since joining in 2007, Joe has recorded three studio albums with the band, a live DVD, and various live albums. Blue Horizon - the latest studio album, is released in March 2014.

Before joining Wishbone Ash Joe was a member of progressive rock band Pendragon (he appears on 2 live DVDs) and the David Cross Band.

When he's not working with Wishbone Ash, Joe records studio sessions and custom drum tracks. An early adopter of the internet for session work he recorded his first online drum sessions back in 2001.

Educator:

Joe has been playing for over 20 years and his passion for the drums has not abated. Committed to lifelong learning, when he's not on the road Joe is generally creating educational content for his website: www.JoeCrabtree.com

In addition, Joe holds a degree in physics from Durham University. “I studied physics because I’ve always been interested in how things work.” he says. “That comes out in the online lessons in particular; I have a pretty scientific approach to breaking things down in an understandable way.”

Joe has had articles published in Modern Drummer and has been featured in Drumhead magazine where he also has a regular column. Before touring took over he taught at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, UK.

Innovator:

Joe has written three pieces of computer software and an iPhone app for drummers. The software is geared towards inspiring creativity and allowing drummers to program patterns that traditional sequencing programs don’t handle well. Pat Mastelotto and Dennis Chambers are fans.

His iPhone app, PolyNome, has a user base of over 200,000.

Endorsements:

Joe endorses by Vic Firth, Zildjian, Sonor, Porter and Davies, Evans and Sensaphonics.
