Mark Wessels' Rudimental Technique
     Exercise #13: Diddle Isolation (Duple)

This exercise works on isolating single hand diddles (bounces) in duple time. At a slow tempo, use the wrist and fingers to produce a controlled double STROKE. Work the exercise at a slow tempo with your hands on your legs (without sticks) or with your sticks on a pillow or floor tom. As you increase the speed, begin to use your fingers to add quality behind the second stroke. At faster tempos (cut time, half note = 80+), use a double BOUNCE instead of a double stroke.
