Loretta Lynn

I was drawn to drumming early in life. My uncle played the drums and my dad and grandpa played guitar. By age 7 I had my own drum set and was playing in my grandpa's country band. My drumming journey continued with lessons, rock bands, polka bands, studying music at the University of Iowa, and finally making the move to Nashville after graduation. I played 10 to 12 gigs a week for several years on Lower Broadway before getting the gig with Loretta Lynn in 2002. I've also gotten to play with some great guest artists over the years like Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Jack White, Lyle Lovett, Vince Gill, Chubby Checker, Paul Shaffer and Martina McBride. It's a thrill to play cool venues like The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Bonnaroo, and the Grand Ole Opry. I'm a sucker for a big roaring crowd!

  • Most memorable Next-Level Performance

Playing with Loretta and Jack White in Manhattan was definitely next-level. All of us on stage gave that screaming crowd a top performance that day.
  • What Drives Your Creativity?

Listening to all styles motivates me. I love drawing from multiple genres.
  • Why do you choose Vic Firth?

I've been using the Vic Firth 5AN sticks exclusively for over 20 years. These are the perfect sticks. I've used them so much that they've just become natural extensions of my hands!
