Mike Zimmerman

Kenny Rogers

Mike started playing drums at age 14. His early influences were the usual suspects; Neil Peart, John Bonham and Phil Collins. Later, Mikes tastes matured, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl were his private teachers or victims of thievery! Mike moved to Nashville in 2000. He landed his first artist gig with Doug Stone. He then had the great opportunity to play with Earl Thomas Conley, Tracy Byrd and Jamie O'Neal. Years of touring, sessions and odd-jobs led to the gig with Kenny Rogers. This also led to opportunities to play with Linda Davis, Billy Dean and even Lionel Richie! Mike has had the honor and pleasure of playing all over the world in venues all of his heroes have set up and laid down the groove.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Playing the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury was a career highlight! Being comfortable in front of 100,00 people made me feel like I had arrived.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

The song and how I can make it better. Having a producers heart, I look for ways to contribute to a song without taking away its purpose. Reaching back to my influences and remembering how they approached songs.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

The Jack DeJohnette signature stick is my favorite. I always get them in a medium/light weight. They're just slightly longer than a 5A are the perfect fit for me.
