Oval tip. A favorite for jazz.

SKU:SD9

DETAILS

Crafted in maple and featuring an oval tip, the SD9 is a favorite for Jazz. But don't overlook the Driver for rock, either! Plenty of hard-hitters are choosing maple these days!

The American Custom line consists of a variety of models conceived and engineered by Vic Firth — performer and educator. The first manufacturer to apply the concept of a round striking surface to drumstick design, Vic developed the other originals that complete the line with jazz players in mind. All eleven models are turned from select rock maple for a light, fast playing stick with great flex and rebound. The Custom line is perfect for the artist who is playing lighter types of music, or prefers a beefier stick without a lot of weight.

  • Well-suited for jazz music
  • Medium taper and an oval tip make for good balance and a distinct cymbal sound

The perfect alt-rock and jazz stick for me!

"Been looking for nice Vic Firth sticks. I got some sticks I didn't know were maple a few months back, and ever since then, I wanted another pair that were just as good. Been changing my playing style, and I don't hit too hard, so these are great for me! I love the diameter as I like feeling that I'm actually holding the drumstick. Oval tip sounds great, and medium taper gives me just enough rebound. Beautiful!!"

"For me it's maple sticks every time. Lighter than hickory of the same size. Less vibration is transferred to the hands and wrists, making these a comfortable well balanced stick."

Years of use fantastic sticks

"General purpose drumsticks for all styles. Hit hard even with rimshots I've never broken one, but they are deft and articulate too. Extra reach much appreciated as is lightweight but decent thickness."

The one and only pair of drumsticks for me :-)

"Still use these drumstick for over 30 years and still happy with it. For me these drumsticks have the perfect specs. Length, weight, balance, etc."

These sticks are among the best ive ever held.

"Not sure the actual weight of the stick but these fellas feel light and move as swift as the wind! Long with good reach and a perfect tip design/shape for getting your drums and cymbals to sing with a warm, full, balanced tone that still cuts through."
