I cut my teeth performing under the tutelage of jazz guitarist Jack Grassel and the late swing clarinetist Chuck Hedges. Performing in multiple genres of music, I have shared the stage with a diverse list of artists: Kip Winger, Eric Martin, of Mr. Big, PJ Farley and Steve Brown of Trixter, Fiona Flanagan, Anthony Corder of Tora Tora, jazz pianist Barry Harris, jazz saxophonists Eric Morones, Jesse Lee Montijo, Aaron Gardner and Johnny Padilla, jazz guitarists Scott DuBois, Steve Peplin, Kirk Tatnall and Michael Arnold, legendary rudimentalists John S. Pratt, Dominick Cuccia & Mitch Markovich, rock guitarists Reb Beach, John Roth, Walter Egan, Jorge Salan and many more.
Ive also spent three decades in education. I run my own private lesson practice and Ive written a number of drum books including: Workin Drums - 50 Solos for Drum Set, 40 Intermediate Snare Drum Solos, The Hal Leonard School for Snare Drum, How to Play Drums in 14 Days and many more. Ive spent many years as proofreader and session musician for Hal Leonard Publishing, working on many projects including Joe Porcaro: Odd Times - Patterns for Rock, Jazz, and Latin at the Drum Set, Steve Mansfields 1001 Drum Grooves: The Complete Resource for Every Drummer, The Real Latin Book, and many more. As far as performances go, Ive enjoyed lending a stick to many Hal Leonard publications including The Hal Leonard Jazz Guitar Method, Oscar Peterson: Classic Trio Performances, Country Classics: Violin Play-Along Volume 8, and many more. With Hal Leonard, I also had the pleasure of performing with and being the music director on John S. Pratts Traditional Rudimental Drumming DVD.
