Charles Rick Heath IV, Chicago native, drummer, educator and producer. It all began when I started playing drums in church at 3 years old for the kid choir, it was then I knew I was in love with music and music was in love with me. I started playing professionally at age 16, after learning I could make more money on one gig than I could make working at Burger King in two weeks, I said music is the life for me. After graduating from Shaw University on full scholarship, I returned home playing local gigs every night in the week and teaching music in the day. I eventually got the call to tour with the 1st National Tour of The Color Purple featuring Fantasia 2007-2010. I currently serve as the drummer for Ramsey Lewis 10 years and counting. I've toured and recorded with Phillip Bailey (EWF) Dee Dee Bridgewater, McCoy Tyner, Donald Byrd, Ramsey Lewis, Robert Irving III, Dee Alexander, Chicago Symphony etc. I also host a jam every Sunday at Andy's Jazz Club. I enjoy helping the next generation of musicians develop their craft.
