From Cuba, Dafnis Prieto's revolutionary drumming techniques and compositions had a powerful impact on the Latin and Jazz music scene, nationally and internationally. Various awards include œ2011 MacArthur Fellowship Award, a Grammy Award Winning and Latin Grammy Nomination for œDafnis Prieto Big Band / Back to the Sunset in 2018, a Grammy Award Nomination for œAbsolute Quintet as Best Latin Jazz Album, and a Latin Grammy Nomination for œBest New Artist in 2007. Besides his own music and projects, Dafnis has worked in bands led by Michel Camilo, Chucho Valdas, Henry Threadgill, Steve Coleman, Eddie Palmieri, and many more.

Most memorable Next-Level Performance
One of those memorable moments was while playing with my Big Band at Carnegie Hall in the fall of 2018. The band sounded so powerful, groovy, yet very balance and relax. I felt as levitating on stage. The music took over. -
