Panic! At The Disco

When I was 12 years old, a friend asked if anyone knew how to put together a drum set. Without even thinking, I said "I do." I went to his house later that day and constructed the pieces as best I could figure-out “ I'm pretty sure now that the floor tom was upside-down. Surprisingly, I was able to play a 1-2 beat fairly easily. And I was hooked. I sold my saxophone for my first drum kit, and yes, my first pair of Vic Firth sticks “ the Dave Weckl signatures.

I've played in many bands since then. Each adding numerous elements to my style and collective musical conscious. Illinois was my first band tour experience, except I was playing guitar(which is a whole other story). My next step was playing drums for Valencia. And now, Panic! At The Disco. And I couldn't feel more at home and complete than I do with such an extremely kind, talented, and passionate team. I still learn something new every single day, and that is where I thrive.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Once with Panic!, we thought our click and tracks had stopped, so we playfully moved in and out of the pocket. After 3 whole minutes on the last beat of the song, a single production track that hadn't actually stopped, landed right with us. We looked at each other in amazement, knowing what in-fact just happened, and quietly freaked-out!

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

Paying attention to the faint signals in my head that hint at making something new or better – whether it be music, a process, a tool, or myself as a person. I never want to stop learning, listening and creating.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

Vic Firth, like the other products I use have been there since day one for me. And especially as a young musician with a real choice in what I was going to play, it just always felt and sounded right to choose the manufacturing families that I did. And now more than ever, it truly feels like a family.
