Dan Tomlinson is best known for his remarkable versatility in performing diverse musical styles with exceptional proficiency. In addition to performing and recording with Lyle Lovett for 16 years, Dan has played with Acoustic Alchemy, and most artists in Phoenix.
With Lyle Lovett, Dan appeared on numerous television programs including seventeen appearances on “The Tonight Show,” eight appearances on “The Late Show” with David Letterman, as well as performing on Conan O’Brien, Austin City Limits, the Grammy Awards, and The Arsenio Hall Show. Dan has also had the honor of participating in two performances at The White House. As part of Lyle Lovett's Large Band, Dan has backed many guest artists, including Jackson Browne, Jimmy Buffett, Sam Bush, Larry Carlton, George Duke, Bela Fleck, Kinky Friedman, Rickie Lee Jones, Leo Kottke, Alison Krauss, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, and Sting.
In 2000, Dan won the “Best Drum Book of the Year” award from Drum Magazine for his book The World Of Flams.
Dan is a native of the Phoenix area where he works at his recording studio, teaches, and plays with numerous bands.
