A native of Chattanooga, TN, Derrick Greene serves as assistant professor of music at Tennessee State University where he is the head of percussion studies. He is also one of the assistant band directors of TSUs world renown Aristocrat of Bands and oversees the drumline. Under his direction, The TSU drumline has been rebranded as œThe Authority and has made two appearances at the Tournament of Roses parade, performed for the Los Angeles Lakers, and has recorded two albums.

Outside of school, Derrick is the drummer and tech director for Brassville. Derrick also serves as a teaching artist for the National Museum of African American Music. Furthermore, Derrick is a freelance performer, clinician and composer. He has been fortunate to perform with individuals and ensembles such as: Sinfonietta Memphis, Roy œFutureman Wooten, and the Nashville Symphony. Mr. Greene has recorded for video games such as Mafia 3. He has also performed at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy and the National HBCU Consortium. He has given masterclasses and clinics at the University of Memphis, Tennessee State University, and high schools in Nashville, Chattanooga, Memphis and as far as Los Angeles. Mr. Greene is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Memphis.
