Eddie Christmas who is known in the drum community as well by his peers as “Christmas”. Christmas was born May 19, 1980 in New Orleans, LA home of some the funkiest drummers today. Eddie started playing drums in church at the age of 6 where he was under the guidance of Craig and Tom Washington. They were some of the most talented musicians on the gospel scene. Eddie was blessed to have musicians that took him under their wings to guide him and enhance his talents. His first performance was on Frenchman Street at the age of 9 years old with a quartet by the name of the Friendly Traveler. He performed with this group every Sunday night. Eddie attended Andrew J. Bell middle school where he studied and started his career as a percussionist under the direction of Donald “Meat Head” Richardson. Eddie was the drum section leader in his 7th and 8th grade years in middle school. Eddie attended John F. Kennedy high school where he joined the concert band and marching band. He later went on to win numerous trophies in parades, competitions and more. After graduating high school Eddie focused on playing gigs in and out of church.
Eddie is known for his Fatt Pocket and Back Beat sound. When asked by his peers or fellow musicians to describe his unique sound they say you know when it’s Eddie his sound is like no other drummer. Over his musical journey Eddie has played and shared the stage with several talented artists in his career. He has played with Gerald Levert, Snoop Dogg ,Chris Robinson, The Black Crowes, Sting, Marva Wright, Big Chief Bo Dollis, June Yamagishi, Leo Neo Noecentilli, Shane Theriot, Henry Butler, Big Sams Funky Nation, Good Enough for Good Times, Brian Coogan Band, Kirk Joseph Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tab Benoit, Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gents, Billy Iuso and BIRN, The Pentones, Funk Monkey. He is currently playing and touring with The New Orleans Suspects Eddie has traveled the world touring all over the country. He teaches classes for kids which helps develop musical and fundamental skills in order to become great musicians and percussionist. He is very thankful for an amazing career God has blessed him with. He is looking forward to more opportunities in the future.
