I received my first drum set at age five. My dad would bring me to his restaurant and I would sit in with my cousins band and I knew then what I was going to do for life & for my living, play music & drums.

At age ten I started played parties with an accordion player and then at age thirteen I had my own band and continued to play school events and local events. At age eighteen, my cousin took me in his show band and I started traveling around the country playing five to seven nights each week and have never looked back.

Now at age sixty I've been a full time musician for forty two years and have never had another job. I've been blessed to be included on 'Drummerworld' and listed as one of the top drummers in the country. I have letters of recommendation from; Vinnie Colaiuta, Jim Chapin, Steve Smith to name a few. Have performed in clinic with ; Virgil Donati, Marco Minnemann, JoJo Mayer , Terry Bozzio, Anton Fig, John Blackwell, Van Romaine, Steve Smith, Rod Morgenstein, Joe Franco and have played The Montreal Drum Festival twice. I have performed live with; Bucky Pizzarelli, Oz Noy, Dean Brown Band, Jeff Berlin, Rachel Z, The Spinners, The Monkees, and Mino Cinelu , to name a few. Played in the house band for 'The Long Island Music Hall Of Fame' the last couple of years. I continue to play three hundred gigs a year, everything from jazz to tribute bands.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

I feel like that on every gig I play. I'm always looking to go to the next level & I think by playing music consistently year after year, it happens naturally if you just let it happen. By freelancing, I'm called to play many different styles in many situations so being adaptable has been my strong point which in turn makes me feel that I'm reaching the next level after I finish a gig. Reaching the next level is beyond just the "physical" aspect of drumming. The mental part is what makes the physical part grow. That's what comes with maturity and many times drummers just come from the physical standpoint and not the musical or maturity standpoint. Playing music each night is always a learning and growing experience for me.

  • WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRUMMERS

When musicians like; Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Smith, Rod Morgenstein, Terry Bozzio etc... respect my playing and DRUMMERWORLD included me on their site, plus playing 300 gigs a year which means my phone keeps ringing, that inspires me and keeps me forging ahead and staying positive in this tough sometimes cut throat business of music. Of course my family & friends continue to always inspire me in my musical endeavors.

  • FAVORITE ZILDJIAN CYMBAL/COMBO

I was playing The NAMM Show in California in the 80's and early 90's. It was there that I became friends with Vic Firth and his lovely family. I was already using Vic Firth products but sitting down with Vic and talking about his products and checking them out, made me fall in love with even more. The product is great but the relationship with the company is just as, if not more, important to me.
