I was born and raised in Brazil, and started playing percussion professionally at the age of 14, in my hometown, Belo Horizonte. After moving to Chicago in 1976, I have recorded and/or appeared with Aretha Franklin, Barbara Eden, Ramsey Lewis, Judy Roberts, Jerry Butler, Tyrone Davis, Walter Jackson, Linda Clifford, Gene Chandler, The Chi Lites, and Buddy Rich. I am a Brazilian percussion instructor for the Old Town School of Folk Music, and have conducted Brazilian percussion master classes at high schools, colleges, and music organizations in the USA, and abroad.
