Herman Jackson is the head of the Percussion Department at Southern University. With 50+ years of drum experience, he has played and/ recorded with various artists such as BB King, Chuck Berry, Eartha Kitt, Michael McDonald, Taj Mahal, Billy Givens, Allen Toussiant, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Gladys Knight, Nancy Wilson, Joe Sample, Aaron Neville, Randy Jackson, and many more. He is an expert in fusing the indigenous rhythms of Louisiana into a multitude of rhythms from around the world. Jackson is a master clinician and has exposed thousands of children to various percussive instrumentation kickstarting their musical journeys.
