  • Most memorable Next-Level Performance

My most memorable game-changing moment was the first time I played with Larry Goldings at a club called No Name in West LA. The entire first set featured Reggie Watts and was completely improvised. Being that it was so spontaneous, I realized that the key was to be completely in the moment — to not second guess anything — just play and react without thinking.
  • What Drives Your Creativity?

Experiencing inspired art drives my creativity. It could be a painting, a book, a movie, a concert, or a piece of recorded music. Anything that evokes a feeling or emotion.
  • Why do you choose Vic Firth?

Since I’m often asked to play in many different styles and situations, I have to have a variety of tools for the gig. Vic Firth offers everything I need to make music — AJ1’s for light cymbal work, 5A’s for harder hitting rock/pop, the Heritage Brush for jazz/contemporary genres, mallets big/small/soft/hard, and of course, different bass drum beaters!
