Jamie-Leigh Schultz has experienced more than most at her age. Born in 2003 in Johannesburg, South Africa, she was surrounded by music very early. Her father, an acclaimed guitarist, she would attend his shows as he travelled throughout Africa.
Introduced to music so young she grew a love for drums - you would always find her drumming on anything that would give back sound. As her craft grew, she began playing bass which is her 2nd instrument but plays it like it’s her first.
Jamie received her first drum kit at the age of 5 but only started playing seriously at the age of 9. She took her drumming exams and passed with distinctions while in Johannesburg. Additionally, Jamie and her brother took 3rd place performing on South Africa’s Got Talent in 2013.
“Playing drums is exciting, entertaining and makes me feel energized”, says Jamie.
Jamie is featured on her brother Justin-Lee’s debut album “GRUV KID” released in 2020 as well as a Christmas single “This Christmas”, released on the same day. She also released a collaborative project with a 3-piece band J3.
Currently, Jamie is busy performing with jazz and RnB artists as well as touring with her brother Justin-Lee at shows and festivals around the world.
