Coming from a musical family, Jason started playing drums at age six when family friend and legendary drummer, Louie Bellson gave Jason his first drum set. Over the past thirty years, Jason has performed/recorded with such jazz luminaries as Larry Goldings, Dave Douglas, Darek Oles and Maynard Ferguson. In 2017, the Jason Harnell Solo Drum Experience was born! Jason's solo drum concerts are consistently sold out, multimedia events that leave audiences spellbound. His debut solo album, TOTAL HARNAGE is out now.

  • Most memorable Next-Level Performance

Surely one of the most memorable performances in my career was my first concert with legendary jazz trumpeter, Maynard Ferguson. I was 22 years old at the time and being asked to join Maynard’s band was a dream come true.
  • What Drives Your Creativity?

The desire to continually push the boundaries of my own imagination is the thing that drives me most creatively. I want to see how far I can take it! Our only limits (creatively) are the limits of our imagination....
  • Why do you choose Vic Firth?

The Vic Firth American Jazz AJ5 wood tip drumstick is my stick of choice. It’s perfectly balanced, feels great and produces a beautifully clear, articulate sound on my cymbals and drums. Who could ask for anything more?
