From his formative years in the church to sharing the stage with renowned artists, J. Hodge's musical journey is a testament to his unwavering passion and talent. His early immersion in music, within a family of musicians, ignited his love for drumming, leading to his first professional gig at the age of 12 with the gospel recording group "Blessed." This marked the beginning of a remarkable trajectory that included studio recordings, overseas tours, and a steadfast connection to his roots through playing for his home church, Emmanuel SDA Church in Hammond, Louisiana. Over his musical career, J. Hodge has shared the stage with notable artists in multiple genres of music. He’s graced the stage with Hip Hop Artist “Currency”, Gospel Artists’ “Titus Showers” and “Kurt Carr”, Southern Soul Artist “Tucka”, and Country Artist “Chapel Hart” to name a few. He currently graces the stage at Bishop Paul Morton’s “Greater St Stephen FGBC” weekly in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has recently joined forces with the esteemed hip-hop icon "Juvenile”. With an exciting lineup of upcoming performances across major cities in the US, including standout events such as Lovers and Friends in Vegas, Jazzfest in New Orleans, and Brooklyn Bowl in NYC, J. Hodge's career continues to soar to new heights. Hodge also has a production credit on Lil Wayne’s new album Tha Carter VI. Along with Mannie Fresh, he produced the track “Bein Myself”. He’s currently on the Cash Money Millionaires 30th year Anniversary tour with Birdman, BG, Mannie Fresh, Beanie Siegel, and Freeway. The best is yet to come!

  • Most Memorable Next-Level Performance?

Essence Fest with Birdman and Friends in the New Orleans Superdome was a great experience!

  • What Drives Your Creativity?

Listening to other genres I don’t typically listen to or studying another musician’s perspective helps my creativity tremendously.

  • Why Do You Choose Vic Firth?

Vic Firth sticks have been in my hands since a child. My 5A Extremes are very comfortable, don’t break easy, and gives me the length I need to move around the drum set freely.
