I began hitting things at a very early age. My mom was a big influence in getting me started. When she was young, she babysat for a family and the father played drums. Although she never pushed me towards it, she always hoped that if she had a boy (I guess only boys played back then...LOL) that he'd play drums...and I did. I played my first professional gig at the age of 12 and...lo and behold...here I am, nearly a half century later, still doing what I love.

Most memorable Next-Level Performance
Anytime that I get to play with a "heavy hitter", I feel elated. The first time that I played with Tom Constanten of The Grateful Dead, it was so great that I felt like I was in the band. -
What Drives Your Creativity?
Artists that I respect, both present and past. The emotional response of playing to people live really gets me going, too. There's no greater feeling. -
Why do you choose Vic Firth?
Their quality is consistent from stick to stick. I can't remember the last time that I used anything else.
