The Marshall Tucker Band

James “Leroy” Wilson, Jr. is a professional drummer currently based in Bonaire, GA. He is a seasoned musician who began touring at age thirteen as a Youth Orchestra Percussionist with the Tidewater Area Musicians Orchestra. He toured with this group for five years. After some under-graduate training, Leroy enlisted in the armed forces. He became a member of the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America Scott SFB, IL., where he toured the continental U.S. playing music in support of our troops and their families. After ten years there, he transferred to the United States Air Force Band of the Reserve Robins AFB, GA, continuing to tour and perform internationally until the end of his military career. Alongside and following his career with the Air Force, Leroy worked as a session drummer for a wide range of projects. He is currently featured on eighteen records, most recently: Brent Cobb “Southern Star” ©2023, Charles Lee Gilbert “Perception” ©2021, and Quankatiere Marshall “Carver Drive” ©2020. In 2019, Leroy became the house drummer at Capricorn Studios in Macon, GA and has been first call ever since. Leroy has performed with numerous award-winning recording artists, including but not limited to: Hootie and the Blowfish, John Popper of Blues Traveler, Amy Grant, Take 6, Aaron Neville, Doc Holliday, Angie Johnson (former contestant on "The Voice"), Jessie James, Chris Hicks of The Outlaws, The Miracles, Lee Greenwood, Jamie O'Neal, Kid Rock, Restless Heart, and Carlos Mencia.     Band of the Air Force Reserve's 2009 Emmy nominated "Holiday Notes from Home" concert at The Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville, TN.
