Lucas Casacio a native of São Paulo, Brazil, has helmed orchestras in South America, Europe and Asia as percussion soloist. He has worked alongside Hermeto Pascoal, Léa Freire, Hercules Gomes, Toninho Horta, Nailor Proveta, Arismar do Espirito Santo and other major figures in Brazilian music.
Lucas’ deep relationship with Brazilian popular music has also manifested in the records of his band Quatro a Zero, his solo album Entre Outras Coisas; also Vai Por Mim (Luiz Tatit), Trios (Forntezz). He recorded the full series of the Concertos Cariocas by Radamés Gnattali, compositions that presented for the first time (in the Brazilian music) the drummers as the soloists of the symphony orchestra. These concerts were released on CD by the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Campinas in 2016.
Lucas has a PhD in Music Performance from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He is a visiting researcher at Boston University and percussion professor at the Federal University for Latin American Integration (UNILA) in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil.
