In 1980 I started with an all girl band The Wrecks. I moved to SF in 1982 and played with a few different bands, among the more successful are the SF Dicks (Alertnative Tentacles), Sister Double Happiness (SST, SubPop, Reprise) and my current band Imperial Teen (Slash, London Records, and now Merge Records). I have worked with Paul Westerberg, J Mascis, and in theatre for art, music and dance projects.

Most memorable Next-Level Performance
The first memorable moment was while I was practicing with another drummer who said to stop worrying about composure, just let go, get involved with your playing and the music. That took a lot of self-pressure off of me. -
What Drives Your Creativity?
My creativity is driven by different genres of music and their drum styles, art, lyrics, the state of the human race, kindness, loneliness, sorrow, joy, nature, pain, anguish, love, loss... -
Why do you choose Vic Firth?
I used to play with my sticks backwards in my hardcore and grunge days - still do occasionally for the super upbeat songs. The American Classic Rock stick was the longest, fattest I could find. I never wanted to try any other.
