Mateo Morales G is a drummer, percussionist and producer from Guatape Antioquia - based in Medellín, Colombia. I received my degree (with honors) in music from the University of Antioquia in Medellín and since then have performed and/or been part of Latin Grammy, Oscar and Platinum award nominated and/or winning productions for artists including Juanes, Sebastián Yatra, Carlos Vives, Nacho, ChocQuibTown, Puerto Candelaria, Manuel Turizo, Ryan Castro, Afrosound, Baby Rasta y Gringo, Grupo Frontera, Yuri Buenaventura, Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín, Iberacademy, Maelo Ruíz, David Pabón, Andy Montañez, Charlie Aponte, Adolescentes Orquesta, Mask, Luisito Carrión, Charlie Cardona, Javier Vásquez, Pasabordo and Zenzei among others. Currently I am the musical director and arranger for Ryan Castro, Maisak, Baby Rasta y Gringo, Miguel Bueno and Rafik. I also own and operate Olimpo studio in Medellín, where I record and produce music for artists in Colombia and around the world.

Most Memorable Next-Level Performance?

One of my best musical experiences in life was a concert with Manuel Turizo in Porto, Portugal, in front of 200,000 people. The feeling of doing what we love and being able to share it with so many people is indescribable. Music is a great blessing.
What Drives Your Creativity?

The energy that moves around music, the vibe, connecting with more performers and people, inspires me and gives me the tools to continue searching for new sounds. Through music, I seek reality. I try to improve myself daily. The new challenges the industry sets for us serve to motivate me. I'm grateful for where I come from. The Colombian and Latin sound is one of the things I seek most. I like to find that difference through my sound. I like new music, new genres. Every time I face them, I learn a lot, and in the end, I have new tools for my playing.
