Paulinho Vicente began his musical journey driven by an interest in jazz and Brazilian instrumental music, developing his career independently as an instrumentalist, both in original projects and as a sideman.
Throughout his career, he has performed alongside important names in Brazilian music such as Toninho Horta, João Bosco, Filó Machado, Maestro Spok, Arthur Verocai, Joyce Moreno, Dominguinhos, Ivan Lins, Leila Pinheiro, among many others, as well as taking part in recordings and concerts with artists from different generations and styles. On the international scene, he has collaborated with North American musicians such as David Kikoski, Ryan Keberle, Ted Nash, Marcus Printup, Chad Lefkowitz, Jake Kelberman, Scott Belck, Trent Austin, Woody Witt, Bob Shew, Davy Mooney, John Ellis, Alison Crockett and Ohad Talmor. He also stands out for his participation in the recording of the album Beams, by pianist Dan Costa, alongside renowned jazz figures such as John Patitucci, Dave Douglas, Mike Stern, Dave Liebman and Hermeto Paschoal.
Artistic exchange, sound research and the possibility of moving between jazz, instrumental music and Brazilian song guide his work, always in search of a personal identity and a dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity.
