Payton Taylor began playing drums around the age of 12. She grew up in Dallas, Texas and attended the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing & Visual Arts. She attended Berklee College of Music on a full tuition scholarship and graduated with honors in 2024. During this time Payton played regularly for various and diverse artists in Boston. In her hometown, Dallas, Texas, she formed the Payton Taylor Project. Her Project plays an array of genres including jazz, fusion and hip hop. They played frequently in Dallas and had a weekly residency at The Free Man in 2022. She now resides in Los Angeles, California and is working full-time as a touring drummer and programmer/arranger.
