RAMON GONZaLEZ, "EL LEa“N", was born in 1965 in Havana. He studied at the National School of Art Instructors, graduating in 1984. In 1988 he worked as a bassist in the group "Oraº", directed by the Cuban composer and guitarist Sergio Vitier, along with illustrious musicians such as Guillermo Barreto and Merceditas Valdas. Gonzalez also collaborates as a percussionist in the group of the creator of Mozambique, Pedro Izquierdo (Pello the Afrocan). He is part of the group "Opus 13" as a drummer under the direction of Joaquan Betancour. Residing in Spain, Gonzalez is part of the Ketama fusion flamenco group. Fixing his residence in Madrid, he began to participate in recordings with the singer of the Old Trova Santiaguera, Reinaldo Creach. In Spain, he has collaborated with artists such as Antonio Carmona, Tamara, Josa Merca, Lolita, Caco Senante, Diego el Cigala, Monica Naranjo, Melendi, Sole Gimanez, Chonchi Heredia and others. The international artists he has accompanied include Omara Portuondo, Paulina Rubio, and Josa Luis Rodraguez "El Puma". In Jazz and Latin Jazz, highlights of his work are with artists such as Barry Harrys, Jose Luis Quintana "Changuito", Marc Antoine, Jimmy Bosch and Steve Turre. Gonzalez has also made recordings in projects with the artists Josa Luis Quintana "Changuito" and Guillermo Rubalcaba. He participated in masterclasses with figures such as Steve Ferrone, Omar Haquim and Billy Cobham.
Since 2001, Gonzalez has been a member of the Rosario Flores group, with whom he has made multiple world tours and recordings, such as the album "Parte de mi" in which he collaborated with Lolita, Antonio Carmona, La Mari de Chambao, Paulina Rubio, Coti and the Cigala. Some of these recordings obtained the Latin Grammy. He is currently an endorser of Vic Firth, DW and Zildjian.
