Robert Mousey Thompson was born in Washington, D.C. He started out as a vocalist and moved to playing drums at age 9. Thompson went on the road at 16 working with Skip Mahoney and the Casuals to Lloyd Price, Wilson Pickett, Peaches and Herb, to the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown.
