I started playing in various school bands and later became hooked on modern jazz. I then joined the Cambridge based band CMU with whom I recorded two albums. My next band was Northern Lights playing six nights per week and playing sessions in London. After forming a jazz-rock band called Tracks I then became a founder member of the group Shakatak with whom I now tour internationally and record regularly. I also formed my own "hobby band" Beatifik and I have recorded three albums with that line-up.

Most memorable Next-Level Performance
Mid-way through my career I decided to put myself through Drum Kit Grades 1 to 8 and I discovered "holes" in my technique which I subsequently filled. A great learning curve. -
What Drives Your Creativity?
I get inspiration from other drummers and I listen to a great range of music from be-bop to contemporary jazz and popular music. -
Why do you choose Vic Firth?
I've become a big fan of Rutes! I love the "soft" snare sound you can get for funk, sambas, etc., and I used them on my new Beatifik album "The Long Drive Home".
