Freelance drummer/percussionist

My folks began taking me to concerts when I was very young. I played and watched as much live music as possible. I think that helped cement my love for performing onstage.

Playing drums? Always an amazingly joyful feeling. Dynamics. Tempos. Communication. Creation. I love live performing/touring. Radio. Television. Clubs, Coliseums, Auditoriums, Amphitheaters - all great. I went from college directly into touring and stage performing. You name it - many styles and Artists, including 14 Hall Of Fame acts from early Rock. Jazz. Classical. World Music. Theater. I'm grateful to music for the life it brought to me.

  • Most memorable Next-Level Performance

Once, I auditioned for a rock-blues based group - a name singer was involved - and I went into the studio 100% cold... all original songs. I mentally turned off all preconceptions of how to play those grooves and created parts that were born second by second. It marked my new level of creativity/sensitivity.
  • What Drives Your Creativity?

I've attended thousands of concerts and played thousands of concerts. The sources of my influences range from the incredibly obscure to the wildly popular, but nothing drives my creativity more than the musicians I create music with, note by note, song by song. Charli Persip taught me that the drums start silent - you must consciously choose to make sound.... I love that.
  • Why do you choose Vic Firth?

My Vic Grip 5B sticks take ridiculous abuse and serve me well. I like to play relaxed in the hand, even at top stage volume, so I used to tape my sticks. But, ever since I was sent my very first pair of Vic Grip sticks: never again!
