Sasha Mashin was born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia in 1976. Sasha meets a great number of the Saint-Petersburg jazz musicians by joining the legendary "Kvadrat" - {the square} - jazz club. From 1995 to 1998 Sasha is the permanent member of Igor Butman's quartet. After moving to Moscow in 1998, Sasha constantly collaborates with the best jazz musicians of the country, and also becomes one of the founding members the MosGorTrio jazz collective.
In 2005 Sasha goes to New York to participate in the "Open World" educational program and to perform with outstanding Clark Terry, Kenny Barron and Jimmy Heath on the stage of the legendary Blue Note. Since 2008 Sasha actively goes on tour across Russia and Europe with the best Russian and western musicians (Benny Golson, Johnny Griffin, Lew Tabackin, Eddy Henderson, James Spaulding, Steve Slagle, Gary Smulyan, Larry Schneider, Mark Turner, Donny McCazlin, Alex Sipiagin, Dhafer Youssef, Rosario Giuliani, Michele Calgaro, Josh Evans, Benito Gonzales).
Since 2017 the Yamaha company has granted Sasha an endorsement. Sasha is also endorsed by Vic Firth and Evans. In 2018 Sasha released his debut album "Outsidethebox" on the co-founded record label - Rainy Days. The album was recorded with the assistance of his long-term fellow musicians Alex Sipiagin and Zhenya Strigalev. The album was truly a breakthrough for the Russian jazz scene. Also Sasha is a musical producer of Rainy Days Records and the musical director of the Rainy Days Jazz Fest festival.
