I've been with Vic Firth since 1987. I actually discovered the company in the late 70's when I worked for Sam Ash on 48th Street in NYC, running the drum department. A pair of sticks with a wood-burned name in the stick came into the store - it said, "Vic Firth - SD1 General," and I began using that pair of sticks exclusively when we were slow and I was practicing on a Pocket Pad on the sales counter. I turned many famous drummers on to that stick and it always blows me away to see many of them using Vic Firth sticks to this day. I like I think I played a tiny part in spreading the word. I have used no other company's sticks since that day and still believe they are the best. Thank you Vic!

  • Most Memorable Next-Level Performance?

    For me, not having ever played the big venues, my most memorable moments have happened on the stages of the legendary clubs in the US. In NY, it's The Bitter End,, CBGB's, The Bottom Line, Great Gildersleeves, and in LA, The Roxy, The Roxbury, The Viper Room, The Cat Club, The Highlands. Many of these places no longer exist, but my memories of playing them are treasured one's.

  • What Drives Your Creativity?

    I wish I knew. I've grown deeper and deeper in love with drumming as I've aged. The term "drumming fool" fits perfectly....

  • Why Do You Choose Vic Firth?

    haven't really tried any other company's sticks since 1979. I'm sure there are many great sticks out there, but I trust Vic Firth sticks and they never fail for me.
