Duane Christopher Boyd, affectionately known as Stixx, emerged as a beacon of inspiration in the drumming world. From a young age, Stixx harbored an unwavering passion for drums, coupled with a dream—to become a professional drummer and producer. His journey began under the mentorship of Hilliard Fitzpatrick, a name synonymous with excellence in drumming. With eyes filled with admiration and hands eager to emulate, Stixx spent years watching Fitzpatrick, planting the seeds of his future greatness.
As he grew older, Stixx embraced opportunities that came his way with unyielding determination. His talents were first showcased at his home church, Faith United Church of the Living God, where he played drums for live services and studio recordings. This formative period in his teenage years set the stage for his blossoming career.
Stixx's relentless pursuit of his dreams led him to New York—a vibrant melting pot of musical talent. Here, he stepped into the realm of major artists, lending his drumming prowess to an impressive array of musicians. He had the privilege of performing with industry giants such as Busta Rhymes, Eric Benét, Ashford & Simpson, Stephanie Mills, Ray Chew, Nelly, Yolanda Adams, Chico DeBarge, El DeBarge, and many more. Each collaboration added a unique rhythm to his burgeoning legacy, elevating him in the world of professional drumming.
In 2022, Stixx took a monumental step in his career by releasing his own music. His EP, featuring tracks like "Ooh Wee," "Funk If I Know," "Sunset," and "World Party," showcased not only his drumming skills but also his talent as a co-writer and songwriter. This body of work holds special significance as it encapsulates his evolution as a musician and his contributions to the art form he so dearly loves.
