Sully Erna's dad is a musician, and his great uncle was a famous composer in Sicily in the early 1900s. Music has just always run through his blood lines. Erna started at the tender age of 3-1/2 years old, and just never gave up. He would have to say his earliest drum instructors were Neil Peart, and John Bonham. Over the years he's played in so many bands with so many genres he cant even remember them all. In 1995, Erna decided to start his own band and step out from behind the drums and in front of the mic for the first time. After he recorded Godsmacks first two albums, Erna was lucky enough to be able to recruit one of the most influential rock drummers of all time into his band, Shannon Larkin. The rest is history!

Most memorable Next-Level Performance
“I would have to say, Woodstock 99 in NY was the most memorable live performance for me. We had just got off a red-eye from the Ozzfest in LA, and went directly to the stage, assuming it was just another show. But to my surprise I lifted up my head to sing the first words and was looking out into a sea of 250,000 people. That was epic! “ -
