Tim Smith

Independent

Well-traveled and versatile, Tim Smith has a reputation for playing just the right groove with just the right feel and a keen ear for the song. One only has to realize Smith's long-term impact by checking out his groundbreaking alternative rock drumming on the self-titled, multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated, Dove-winning debut album from crossover supergroup, Jars of Clay.

Tim's toured with industry icon Brenda Lee, songwriting maven Matraca Berg, Joey + Rory, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Louise Mandrell and a diverse menu other rock, country, folk, jazz, and R&B artists.

One of the most profound experiences in his career was the 3 years spent in the drum chair next to legendary bass player and Funk Brother (the late) Bob Babbitt. Says Smith, œplaying with Bob was a turning point in my drumming. His invaluable experience taught me so much about groove, feel and playing in the pocket and what it really means to play for the song.

Further proof comes in his 9-year long stint with legendary rock group, POCO.

Tims extensive touring has also afforded him the pleasure of headlining alongside artists of the likes of The Doobie Brothers, Beach Boys, Steppenwolf, Edgar Winter, Dave Mason, America, Sonny Landreth, Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jefferson Starship featuring Grace Slick, Clint Black, Diamond Rio, Alan Jackson, Pure Prairie League, Firefall, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Dixie Dregs and many more.
