I've played for many years but now most notably I am the drummer for the Atlanta-based outfit Manchester Orchestra. I went to the school of hard knocks and started recording and touring at a young age. I didn't make very much money for years and sometimes the bills got sketchy but I stayed hungry to improve and it paid off. It's important to understand where you fit in the music world. Some of us are meant to tour, some to teach. Figure out where you'll be happiest. I also do my own videos and projects to mix it up which is also very important so you don't get bored.
Most memorable Next-Level PerformanceA recent memory is when I was able to work a weird drum groove into a Manchester Orchestra song called " The Grocery". Its a strange beat but it works! Felt great to have a creative impact.
What Drives Your Creativity?I get inspired by watching other great artist who have hammered out their own unique style and skills. Theres really no end to the talent out there.
Why do you choose Vic Firth?I've always used Vic Firth since I started playing. The sticks just felt better than the other competitors so I've been using them since day 1.
