My passion for drums started for me when I saw a friend play in Jr High stage band, I right then knew I had to learn. Joined the marching band in school and graduated to cover bands. In 1994, I was offered the drum chair with Rick Derringer, where I remained for 18 years. In 2012, I started playing for the legendary Johnny Winter, until his passing in 2014. My drumming can be heard on Johnny's 2014 Grammy Award winning album, "Step Back".

  • Most memorable Next-Level Performance

One of my favorite moments was performing in Paris, France with Johnny Winter. We had special guests Edgar Winter and Robben Ford play with us and it was just a surreal and high point for me.
  • What Drives Your Creativity?

I'm always inspired by other drummers, you learn something from everyone you see.
  • Why do you choose Vic Firth?

I'm a fairly hard hitter, so I need a dependable stick that won't immediately splinter when I'm laying on the bell of my ride cymbal. My Vic Firth's hold up better than any other I've tried.
