Vini Baschera

Independent, SYRO.

With a degree in Classical Percussion from the University of Passo Fundo/RS, Vini held his graduation concert in 2009 and completed a research paper in 2011 on the incorporation of drums into the regional music of Rio Grande do Sul.
During his studies, he performed numerous percussion recitals, interpreting works by renowned composers such as Keiko Abe, Nebojsa Zivkovic, Ney Rosauro, Dave Samuels, Emmanuel Sejourné, Eliot Carter, and Sigfried Fink.

In 2013, he moved to São Paulo/SP, where he co-founded the instrumental trio VETrio with guitarist Tiago de Moura and bassist Everton Rosa. That year, they recorded the live performance documentary VETrio Ao Vivo e Sem Cortes at Estúdio500. Vini also released his first independent instructional DVD, First Drum Lesson, aimed at promoting his work on social media.

In 2014, he relocated to Portugal to pursue further academic studies and, in 2016, earned his master’s degree in Jazz Artistic Interpretation from ESMAE (Porto), under the mentorship of American drummer Michael Lauren. At ESMAE, he played with the school's Big Band and wrote a thesis on the "Action and Reaction" technique, developed by Brazilian drummer Kiko Freitas.

In 2017, he joined pop artist David Carreira’s tour, remaining with the band for five years and performing across Portugal and Europe. In 2022, he released his first EP Daily Commute, an innovative project in duo with accordionist João Barradas, featuring only acoustic drums and MIDI accordion.

That same year, he was invited to perform with the Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble (L.U.M.E.), appearing at major European jazz festivals like Jazz Sous Les Pommiers (France), Novara Jazz (Italy), and Jazzfestival Saalfelden (Austria). Vini is now recognized as one of Portugal’s most versatile drummers, active in teaching, performance, and social media content creation.
