WanNing Chen, a well-trained classical percussionist, as well as influenced by the variety of music styles. In 2012 she was accepted to The Boston Conservatory with full scholarship, where she studied percussion performance under Nancy Zeltsman, Keith Aleo, Samuel Z. Solomon and Kyle Brightwell, as well as pop percussion at Berklee College of Music. In 2016, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Boston Conservatory. That same year, she began her Masters Degree at Boston University, where she earned a scholarship to study percussion performance with Tim Genis.
WanNing has been the recipient of numerous prizes. In 2004 she won the third place in the China Snare Drum Competition. In 2009, she won the fourth place of PENDIM International Competition For Percussion Instruments. In 2017, she received scholarship from the Percussive Arts Society. In 2018 she was invited by the Pi Kappa Lambda American Honor Society. In 2019, she obtained the certificate of contribution to The 70th Anniversary of the Founding of The People's Republic of China. In 2020, she won the second place at the France Music Competition, and the second place of International Grand Music Competition in Russia.

As a percussion performer and educator. WanNing has held several solo percussion recitals, including original arrangements; her adaptation of “Barber Blues”for percussion trio was premiered at Berklee College of Music. She worked as percussion teaching assistant at Boston University. Additionally, WanNing has performed with orchestras in the United States and China. She has collaborated with renowned conductors, such as Bramwell Tovey, Benjamin Zander, Ken David Masur and Daniele Gatti. WanNing is currently a percussionist in the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra.
