Presently, Mike serves as the percussion caption head for the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps.

Mike's influence extends beyond the performance arena as well. He sits on the Board of Directors for WGI and is also a co-founder and current board member for the Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA).
"Over the years, I have played all of the Vic Firth marching sticks. And while all have great qualities, I knew I had an idea that would be unique and would add positively to the catalog," states Jackson. "I love the way high pitched rim shots can color a phrase as well as cut through the ensemble with clarity. The trick was to develop a stick that would deliver that sound and yet not compromise the durability of the stick. Together with Vic Firth, we have indeed created such a stick."
The new Mike Jackson signature stick features a thick shoulder followed by a long taper for quick rebound and great "ping-shot" sound quality. A long reverse taper pushes more mass to the front of the stick, and the neck flourishes up to an oval tip. All this results in a stick that produces great sound, balance and durability.
Mike adds, "I have been happy to be part of the Vic Firth team for quite some time! Vic's quality control assures me delivery of the most consistent and professional level of products that I've experienced. The company has an unparalleled commitment to the marching arts that starts with the man himself!"

"These sticks are amazing. They are very articulate and produce a balanced timbre that isn't too dark or too bright. They generate lots of rebound and feel amazing in the hand; the taper really helps with that. You get nice, bright ping shots, and the weight balance is great."
— Sadra K. (5/5)
