Ludwig Afonso obtained a Bachelors degree in Studio Music and Jazz Performance from the University of Miami in May 2002. Shortly after Ludwig moved to New York and began performing and touring with Spyro Gyra. He appeared on their Grammy-nominated CD Wrapped in a Dream, as well as Grammy-nominated recordings The Magician by Sammy Figueroa, Hector Martignons Second Chance and The Rodrigues Brother Impromptu. Ludwig has also performed with Giovanni Hidalgo, Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, Joe Locke, Pedrito Martinez, Sadao Watanbe, Mark Murphy, Dave Valentine and Juan Carlos Formel.
Ludwig is currently working with various artists such as Yosvanny Terry, Martin Bejerano, Eldar Djangirov, Manuel Valera, The Rodriguez Brothers, Paquito D' Rivera, Richard Bona and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
