Malachi O’Connor is a Pop/R&B drummer born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He started playing drums at age 12, with church playing a central role in his development both musically and personally.

He made his professional touring debut in 2023 with Henry Verus, opening for Jessie Murph on the Cowboys and Angels tour. The following summer, he joined Forrest Frank on the CHILD OF GOD tour and returned for CHILD OF GOD Part 2 in the spring of 2025.

Malachi’s early musical inspiration came from alternative and indie rock bands like Phoenix, Foster the People, and Grouplove. His playing is shaped by great drummers before him, such as Aaron Spears, Jamal Moore, George Daniel, and Devon Taylor.

  • What Drives Your Creativity?

My creative charge is from a love and passion for music and wanting to make emotional and moving performances. That gift is ultimately from God, every good and perfect thing is from Him.
