Richard Szaniszlo started playing the drums at 4 years old on his grandfathers pans, and soon after enrolled in Janos Palotasy music school in his hometown. He continued his percussion studies with Prof. Gabor Siklosi at the Academy of Music Ferenc Liszt in Szeged and at the same time had various temporary jobs at the Szeged Philharmonic playing percussion, vibes and marimba.

He worked with musicians such as AL DI MEOLA, MAKOTO OZONE, MICHAEL PATCHES STEWART, DAVID FRIEDMAN, GERGO BORLAI, MICHAEL URBANIAK, ERIK TRUFFAZ.

Szaniszlo is leader of his own band called Richard Szaniszlo Vibraphone Quartet and Richard Szaniszlo Trio.

His first album was released on the Soron Records (USA) in 2008 under the title Hands of Passion. He is a member of the Vibratone Quartet, the Red Stones Quartet.

He received his current instrument, the Musser M55 vibraphone, as a gift from jazz vibraphonist David Friedman in 2019.
Since 2020, he has been an artist of the American Vic Firth Company.
