"I like the concept very much. I have been using rods for awhile, and the idea of the solid handle was welcome. And it works and sounds good. But the rods snapped off from the handle on my 3rd time using them. I don’t think I was pounding. Disappointing!"

Rods + crosstick + nice balance
"I really like these. I've been using rods/rutes of different sorts for decades now, and I love them for lower-volume gigs. But I've always wished that there was a way to have a rod sound without losing the ability to do a cross-stick. And tada! Here is the solution. I also really like how these are balanced. With typical rods/rutes, I generally don't bother trying to do any double-stroke rolls or any kind of bounced stroke. It's just too difficult to get the articulation. But the way these are balanced and the way the rods are tightly bound at the top totally makes rolls and bounced ghost notes possible. One last thing: I initially thought that I would have preferred less stick and more rods. (There's only a couple of inches worth of rods at the top.) And I do slightly miss the ability to do a rim shot with the rods only. But having more stick enables you to do a cross-stick without flipping the stick around, which is brilliant."
